Dirk Kuijt, commonly known as Dirk Kuyt was born on 22 July 1980 and currently plays for English club Liverpool and the Netherlands. Determined, great working rate and good ability to hold the ball has allow him to win the admiration of his managers and football pundits at large. Although he is a striker and scored 71 goals in 101 matches for Feyenoord he has not managed to provide the same return since his move to Liverpool. This is why he is mainly used as a midfielder.

His football career began when he was five years old and joins the local amateur team Quick Boys.

He scored 20 league goals in his first season with Feyenoord.

Kuyt made his international debut in van Basten’s first game against Liechtenstein.

Kuyt is married to Gertrude and the couple has a daughter Noelle.

Kuyt’s father died of cancer in June 2007,

He represented the Netherlands at the 2010 World Cup and finished the tournament with one goal scored against Danemark.

Kuyt made his Liverpool debut as a substitute against West Ham on 26 August 2006.

His first match in the Champions League for Liverpool came against PSV.
